Type of appointment

Where will the signing happen?Required

Online sessions need: a computer or phone with a camera, microphone, and steady internet for each signer; a current government-issued photo ID in hand; and the ability to answer identity questions drawn from credit-bureau records. If identity proofing cannot be completed, Florida law does not allow the online notarization to go forward (§117.265, F.S.).

The document

Bring the marriage license issued by a Florida county clerk. The fee is $30 plus county travel. Florida law does not permit solemnizing a marriage by online notarization (§117.209(1), F.S.).

Choose In person for a marriage. An online session cannot be used to solemnize a marriage.

One act for each notarized signature. Two signers on one document is usually two acts. We confirm the count before invoicing.

The notary cannot choose the certificate for you. That decision belongs to you, the document's preparer, or whoever asked for the notarization.

A notary certificate is required. Ask the party who requires the notarization which wording to use, or have the preparer or your attorney add it before the appointment.

Has anyone already signed?Required

A document with a jurat or oath must be signed in the notary's presence. Bring an unsigned copy if you can. An acknowledgment may be completed if the signer appears and confirms the signature. Upload the document and you will get a straight answer before the appointment.

WitnessesRequired

Many Florida deeds, wills, and powers of attorney need two witnesses. Witnesses cannot be named in or benefit from the document. Whether yours needs them is a question for the preparer or your attorney.

Online witnesses may be with the signer or join the session remotely (§117.285, F.S.). A remote witness must be a U.S. resident located in the United States during the session. For wills, revocable trusts with testamentary provisions, health care advance directives, and powers of attorney with banking or investment powers, the platform asks screening questions when fewer than two witnesses are physically present with the signer. A yes answer means the witnesses must be physically present with the signer.

Will this document be recorded with a Florida county afterward?Required

A document notarized online can be eRecorded as an electronic PDF without printing it. After the session, send a records request and upload the completed file.

County recorders check form requirements such as the preparer's name and address and printed names under signatures (§695.26, F.S.). Checking those is the preparer's job. We can eRecord the signed original afterward; send a records request.

PDF only: the platform uses this exact file. We check it for blank spaces, the notary certificate, and signing instructions before the appointment. Up to 6 files, 25 MB each.

Signers

More than six signers: call us.

A signer outside Florida confirms on the record that they want a Florida notary to perform the act under Florida law (§117.265(3), F.S.). Whether a foreign country or receiving party accepts the result is for you to confirm before booking.

Does every signer have a U.S. Social Security number and U.S. credit history?Required

Online identity questions come from U.S. credit-bureau records.

A signer without U.S. credit history may not be able to pass identity proofing. We will confirm before booking whether the session can proceed or an in-person appointment is the better route.

Can every signer communicate clearly and understand what they are signing?Required

Asked for every appointment, and especially for hospital, rehab, and nursing home visits.

Call before you book: 321-510-4411. The notary must be able to communicate directly with each signer and must decline if a signer appears not to understand the document or not to be acting freely. You will be told that on the phone rather than charged for a trip that cannot be completed.

Can every signer sign their own name?Required

Florida allows a signature by mark, and a signature made by the notary at the signer's direction, when two disinterested witnesses are present (§117.05(14), F.S.). Plan for two witnesses who are not named in and do not benefit from the document.
